Meet the Chef
As The Finn’s Chef and Food Services Manager, Matthew Crawford oversees the meals and beverages served in this restaurant and gastropub and keeps the kitchen running smoothly. Matt brings more than two decades of culinary experience to The Finn. Previous positions have included Sous Chef, Assistant Room Chef, and Executive Chef at prime gourmet destinations from Vail, Colorado, to the Phoenix metro area. Most recently, he worked in high-end steakhouses in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He earned his associate degrees in Culinary Sciences and Hotel/Restaurant Management from a culinary school in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Matt is of Scotch-Irish descent and says his family has been in America since before the Revolution. Raised in southwest Oklahoma, he moved to Phoenix in 1987 and over the years has lived in several locations in Arizona, Colorado, and other locales.
Away from work, he loves movies (especially Star Wars), games, comics, pop culture, four-wheeling, and—of course—cooking and eating! He also enjoys spending time with his two dogs, Doc and Wyatt, a Jack Russell terrier/dachshund mix and a Maltese terrier mix. And, he adds, “making guests happy and always learning!”
